Bangladeshi passport holders need a visa to visit Malaysia — but you don't have to visit an embassy. The Malaysia eVisa is applied for completely online, and the approved eVisa is sent to you by email. This guide walks you through the whole process.
Who needs a Malaysia eVisa?
If you hold a Bangladeshi passport and want to visit Malaysia for tourism, to see family or for a short business trip, you need a visa before you fly. The tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days per entry, and the stay cannot be extended inside Malaysia — so plan your trip dates carefully. The eVisa itself is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, so you can apply well ahead of your trip.

What you need before you start
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, with a clear scan or photo of the bio-data page.
- A recent passport-size photo — colour, plain light background, face clearly visible.
- Financial proof — usually your bank statement for the last 3 months.
- Return ticket and hotel booking (recommended — they strengthen your application).
- An email address and phone number you check regularly.

Step-by-step: applying with evisamalaysia.net
- Choose your visa type and trip. Go to Apply now, pick "eVisa — Tourist", your purpose and your arrival date.
- Upload your passport. We read the passport's machine-readable zone (MRZ) and fill in your name, passport number and dates automatically. Always double-check every field against your passport.
- Upload your documents. Photo, bank statement and any supporting papers. Travelling with family? Add each traveller — dependents can reuse the main applicant's shared documents.
- Review everything. One wrong letter in a name or passport number is the most common reason for delays.
- Pay securely. Bangladeshi applicants pay in taka (BDT) by bKash, Nagad, card or internet banking through SSLCommerz.
- We check and submit. Our team reviews your documents before submitting, and tells you if anything needs fixing.
- Receive your eVisa by email. Download it, print a copy and carry it with your passport.
How long does it take?
Most applications are decided within a few working days, but immigration can take longer in busy periods or ask for extra documents or an interview. We recommend applying at least 2–3 weeks before your flight. You can follow every step on our tracking page — see how to check your eVisa status.
Before you fly: complete the MDAC
Having an eVisa is not the last step. Almost all foreign visitors must also submit the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within the 3 days before arrival. Read our MDAC guide so you don't get stuck at check-in.
Tips for a smooth approval
- Make sure your name is spelled exactly as in your passport.
- Use a sharp, glare-free scan of the passport page — all four corners visible.
- Show a bank balance that fits the length of your trip.
- Don't book non-refundable flights until your eVisa is approved.
